Premiere Stages, the professional Equity theatre company in residence at Kean University, is pleased to recognize "In the Temple of Light" as a Semi-Finalist for the 2025 Premiere Play Festival. "In the Temple of Light" rose through a competitive selection conducted by Premiere staff and an external panel of professionals to become distinguished among 805 submissions. This play is chilling in the best way possible, using uncertainty like a well crafted weapon. Queer as hell and expertly crafted using a style I feel is rarely used to its full potential (mocku-mentary/theater). I would absolutely love to see this on a stage, as I feel the sound and lighting design would add so much to the narrative and message of the piece. Well done indeed!

yet again Arroyo has written a play that is stunningly queer right down to it's marrow, specific and exact to its and the characters' circumstances, and deliciously frigthening in its exploration in fitting form to narrative. nobody is really doing it like Arroyo. this play would be sooooo gorgeous to see in Chicago
