Eve has a crisis of conscience, after renouncing her faith years before, and wonders if the recent death of a patient, is a sign from God. As their bond strengthens, Eve challenges Rachel’s participation in a trial whose selection process, coupled with the biological harm of immunosuppression drugs, cervical biopsies, and numerous abdominal surgeries, have made it impossible for her to uphold her vow to do no harm.

A very moving play about one couple's struggle to bring a child into this world. Loved the blending of worlds between the church and the doctor's office. Loved how flawed these characters are. The playwright brilliantly explores the pain of infertility and how hard it can be to stand by and watch the one you love be at risk. I hope this play gets produced.

A highly original, compassionate play about motherhood, infertility, faith, and how those things weave together with intersectional identity. Rachel is a wonderful nucleus for us to follow and her and Eve's parallel journeys related to womanhood, motherhood, science, and religion were compelling to watch. I appreciated how urgent the needs and wants of all of the characters were, while Brake-Silla always kept sight of the love and compassion within and between them. A play of big ideas and explorations as well as fine-tuned and intimate character work.
