The nature of life is to find oneself trapped in mundane horrors of one’s own making. This play reminds us that the horrors are less horrible when you’re facing them with someone you love. Prillaman’s mastery of the absurd is on full display in this hilarious and heartfelt work, whose dark yet comforting tone makes you want to cling to your partner and tell them how much you appreciate them (if you have one. If not, it’ll probably just give you nightmares about bread.)

Wherever you think this is going, you’re not thinking far enough. Prillaman spins out a small memetic joke & somehow makes it funnier, weirder, sexier, grosser, scarier, & more heartwarming than the audience could ever prepare for. The audio version on Gather By The Ghost Light is fantastic.

This one caught me off guard. Somehow, through this very funny horror device, the play explored what it is to be in a long term partnership with someone in a way that was genuinely touching. This was genius. I started telling people about it immediately after listening to it on the Gather by the Ghost Light podcast.

Probably Daniel's signature play (I’m also partial to A REPUTATION for some strange reason). All hallmarks of his writing and plotting are here, waiting to be showcased and upended.
Prillaman’s plays are like an episode of THE TWILIGHT ZONE or BLACK MIRROR. The only difference: TWILIGHT ZONE and BLACK MIRROR play by rules; Prillaman delights in tossing them out and setting fire to the rulebook, the stage, the audience and the theater parking lot. (It’s the best, safest, coolest arson possible.)

Bizzarely brilliant- at no point could I tell where this was going next. What a creative spin on the unlimited bread baskets! I'll never look at bread the same way again!

I kept laughing and screaming "WTF" as this play goes from a cute date night to a Darren Aronofsky-like nightmare. Prillaman fearlessly doesn't hold back but still makes hilarious storytelling decisions with precision.

FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY (THE BREAD PLAY) is bizarre, funny, terrifying, bizarre, and brilliant...and also bizarre! Playwright Daniel Prillaman takes the readers/listeners/audience members on a truly epic journey. I feel this play would fit perfectly late night on Adult Swim. I love the guilty creepiness associated with wasting free unlimited bread in this you-get-what-you-order all- you-can-eat gluttonous culture of ours. Great fun, dark murky bizarrely romantic comedy complete with simpering, singing waiter and a mint. Great audio production on Gather By the Ghost Light.

We produced an audio play version of this script in the Season 4 line-up of the Gather by the Ghost Light podcast (https://www.gatherbytheghostlight.com/s4e17). Prillaman has brilliantly tied together romance, horror, and comedy in this twisty and sometimes absurd story. We often hear the phrase "unlimited deal" advertised by restaurants and Prillaman does a crafty job of showing us what it would look like if this phrase was taken literally. Very well written and highly recommended!
