Joe Dawn is the story of Joe, a man who wears a chimpanzee mask wherever he goes, Shandy, a woman who becomes obsessed with finding out why, Joe’s girlfriend Dian, a teacher with a skeleton in the closet of her own, and Shandy’s boyfriend Eric, an IT professional whose job it is to make sure nobody has secrets. Joe Dawn is about how Joe and Shandy come together and, ultimately, how they destroy each other. The power of Joe Dawn does not rest in one character, but in the information about them that is accessible with enough digging in the internet age in which we live. Joe and Shandy covet privacy and information, respectively, because they know the damage that can result from having one’s personal business out in the world, and they have retreated to two opposite extremes. When they end up in each other’s orbits, however, the immovable object that is Joe and the irresistible force that is Shandy can only destroy each other with the avalanche of information that they bring onto each other, and their loved ones end up casualties of these actions. In Joe Dawn, “information is power" isn't a cliche, it's a warning that this kind of power is uncontrollable and unstoppable, and it can level lives without a second thought.

Shandy vibrates with an urgent curiosity, and Williams's script consistently builds on itself, revealing new vantage points for the audience to view the characters and their situation. "Joe Dawn" asks us: is it enough to know someone by what they choose to share, or are others only knowable through forceful, unfiltered...
